Dairy Road Pedestrian Bridge Replacement - Charlottesville, VA

The Dairy Road Pedestrian Bridge Replacement project is has recently been completed.  The bridge, which consists of a 170' long single span truss, serves as a central pedestrian conduit over Route 250 Bypass.  This structure replaced the existing pedestrian bridge, which was rapidly deteriorating and considered functionally obsolete.

VDOT Bridge Inspection Term Contracts

Mid-Atlantic Engineering is currently performing National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) element level safety inspections of highway structures and bridges, and support structures for traffic control devices through Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Limited Services Term Contracts in the Hampton Roads, Richmond, Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Lynchburg, Staunton, and Roanoke Districts.

The inspection services include performing field inspections, providing required traffic control and access equipment, preparing inspection reports, and providing recommendations on maintenance and repairs for each structure.  Inspections have included both Fatigue Prone and Fracture Critical Structures.  All inspections are performed in accordance with the requirements of VDOT and NBIS Standards.

City of Charlottesville On-Call Term Contract  

Since 2014, Mid-Atlantic Engineering has represented the structural component of the current On-Call Term Contract for Civil Engineering services for the City of Charlottesville. Through this contract, we have been fortunate to assist the City with all of their bridge and structure inspections, bridge repairs, bridge load ratings, and general structural questions that arise on a day-to-day basis.
